35th Annual Muertos de la Risa with the Soulful Nutricuates

Muertos de la Risa with the Soulful Nutricuates is ElevArte’s 35th Annual Dia de Muertos celebration. Join us for an evening of spectacle, health education and ancestral remembrance. The Peoples Cook, this year's Grand Marshall, will lead a community procession through Pilsen streets to observe street-level ofrendas and fill the neighborhood with joy and laughter.  Bring your walking shoes, your muertos inspired attire, and/or your own mobile ofrenda.

El Pasado: Recuerda mi Nombre / The Past: Remember my Name
Do you have a loved one you would like to honor? A communal celebration where we call names in a ceremony led by The People’s Cook.

El Presente: “Cultura Cura” / The Present: Culture Heals

This chican@ philosophy teaches us that within the very essence of each individual, family, community and culture, resources exist that are tied to our ancestral roots which in turn give us the power to heal body, mind and spirit. We aim to inform the community on nutrition, exercise and the relationship between obesity and chronic diseases and activate solutions.

El Futuro: Alimento & Acción / The Future: Nourishment & Action
Everybody eats: The People’s Cook is preparing delicious healthy snacks for attendees. Optional: Consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for the community ofrenda. All donations will be provided to a local shelter.
