ElevArte offers paid opportunities to teens via One Summer Chicago and After School Matters (ASM) programs. These apprenticeships are a chance for teens to learn a new skill and meet youth from all over the city, while preparing for college and careers. Any questions? Call 312-226-7767.

Pilsen Urban Garden project: art of community

Learn how to grow a tomato, compost a banana peel, design a bench, and throw a garden party! This community garden, art, and social practice program gets teens hands in the dirt, in the paint, and on the mixing board. Teens host the program’s closing celebration on and guests learn about the garden’s food and plants while enjoying a teen curated performances and/or exhibitions.

Walls of Hope: Brighton Park Mural Project

Walls of Hope is a mural project in Brighton Park that transforms community spaces with teen inspired art work. Learn about the history of street art (it's more than graffiti) and the mural tradition. Teens will develop drawing, painting, lettering and aerosol techniques.

We Are Hip Hop Promotion team

Teens in this After School Matters program will immerse themselves into the world of entertainment management while learning about Hip Hop culture and planning for the Annual We Are Hip Hop Youth Festival. Projects will positively promote Hip Hop culture and its elements while cultivating teens into community leaders. Through participation, teens will learn to think critically while addressing controversial issues directly affecting them. Teens will develop skills in songwriting, sound production, marketing event coordinating and social media.

Sew Stitchy

Sew Stitchy is a fiber-arts program where teens learn and practice traditional and contemporary forms as a means to explore cultural identity, labor and social issues. Teens learn about marketing, merchandising, self-promotion skills and business plans, which will prepare them to sell their goods in the future. Teens will delve into sewing, knitting, crocheting and the handmade/DIY world.

Youth in this One Summer Chicago program will immerse themselves into the world of entertainment management while learning about Hip Hop culture and planning for the Annual We Are Hip Hop Youth Festival. Participants will gain first hand experience in festival production, leadership development, career readiness and will work on projects that will positively promote Hip Hop culture and its elements.
