Tejer y Poder

Stephanie Barragan

Tight-knit with my tia Lupe

by Sandra Monroy This summer in Tejer y Poder, I was asked to document a person that either knits or crochets. I decided to interview my aunt Guadalupe Zavala, whom I am really close to.

Q:  Do you crochet or knit more?

A: I enjoy doing both, but I stick more to knitting.

Q:  Since you say you do both, which one are you best at?

A:  Since I am knitting half of the time I think I am better at it.

Q: How old were you when you started to knit and crochet?

A: I actually started about 5 years ago, but I have progressed over the years.

Q: How many projects have you made?

A: I lost count. I know I did plenty of different types of scarves and a few blankets.

Q: How did you get involved in knitting and crocheting?

A: I was bored at home one day and I saw my sister knitting, so I asked her to teach me, its quite relaxing and stress free.
